INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES
Migrant Education
This program provides assistance with education and other needs for children, ages three through twenty-one years old, who move frequently because they and/or their parents (or guardians) work in agriculture, fishing, or forestry.
GoalTo help migrant children and young people overcome difficulties that occur due to repeated moves, so that they can be successful in school, graduate from high school, and be prepared to advance to college or employment after graduation.
Services
In schools, the program offers:
- In-class assistance to students
- Before- and after-school tutorial assistance
- Summer school
- Preschool for children ages 3-5 years old
- Parent meetings and involvement
- Translating for parents at conferences and meetings
The program provides help with support services for eligible migrant children and youth:
- 24-hour accident insurance.
- Information about the community, employment assistance, childcare, food, clothing, and health services.
- Referrals to GED and English classes.
- Transportation to appointments on emergency basis.
